ELO provides these outdoor activities to help build an appreciation of the outdoors, teach lifelong practical skills and develop conservational ethics.
 
  • Fishing-  ELO’s fishing program covers basic fishing skills and helps develop conservational ethics and practices, and an appreciation for the outdoors. The program provides hands-on training in a variety of fresh and saltwater environments. Education varies depending on specific needs of the group.

    Students will learn:
    • Basic equipment, knots, bait, methods...
    • Fish habitat, identification & conservation
    • Fish handling, size & limits
    • Water safety
    • Freshwater and Saltwater trips available
       
  • Boating-  ELO’s boating program offers hands-on training and experience to help participants develop an appreciation for boating, while building self-confidence and water safety skills. ELO offers instruction aboard a variety of boats and teaches information from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department [TPWD] Boater Education Course.

    Students will learn:
    • Parts of a vessel, navigation, rules of the road
    • Docking & handling, on the water safety
    • Handling accidents and emergencies
    • ELO teaches the  TPWD Boater Education Coarse
       
  • Sailing-  ELO’s mobile sailing program and large sailboat training help participants build teamwork skills and self-confidence. Participants receive hands on experience and obtain information from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department [TPWD] Boater Education Course. Large sailboat training is available on Lake Conroe and Galveston Bay, while the mobile sailing program is held at various locations.

    Students will learn:
    • Parts of a sailboat
    • Points of sail, navigation, rules of the road
    • Handling, righting, on the water safety
    • Handling accidents and emergencies
    • ELO teaches the  TPWD Boater Education Coarse
  • Camping-  ELO enjoys overnight camping adventures in a variety of environments while teaching basic camping skills and conservation ethics and practices. Texas State Parks are the most frequented destination of ELO.

    Students will learn:
    • Preparation of a campsite
    • Setup & take down of tents
    • How to safely build a fire
    • Different types of camping equipment
    • Outdoor safety (water safety if applicable)
       

  • Snowboarding / Skiing-  ELO’s winter program challenges participants beyond personal comfort levels, helping them to build greater self-confidence.  Participants are able to experience different types of mountain terrain and conditions.  Seasonal trips are made to New Mexico and Colorado.

    Students will learn:
    • Safety on the mountain
    • Entry & exit of ski lift
    • Basic skills for snowboard or skis
       
  • Scuba Diving- ELO instructs new divers, teaching them the skills they need to create their own underwater adventures. PADI Beginner and Advanced Specialty classes available:

    Students will learn:

    • Water & scuba diving safety
    • Basic principles & procedures
    • Types of equipment
    • Confined and open water diving

ELO also provides education at various shows, expos, workshops and seminars!
